Master Ronald clery 1992-2012 Eulogy
Sensei: Ronald Clery: A Shining Example of Youth
My dear people, we the bereaved and the mourners left behind have a readiness to speak favourably of the departed. So much so that it becomes a dull cliché or an unwritten law which commands to do just that; too often misrepresenting the character traits of the deceased to the point of distortion.
Let it be said here that Ronnie doesn’t fit in this category – not one bit. Rather, Ronnie exhibited a laudable disposition which was a rarity, especially when one laments the current environment of youth, whereby brazen aggression seems to be the norm, against the muscles of discipline and authority.
Indeed, we who knew Ronnie couldn’t help being intrigued by his quiet demeanor, as well as his adherence to instructions from his parents and others. His manners were commendable to the flow of admiration. He greeted anybody with his “Good morning,” “Good day” and “Good Night.” In this regard he conveyed such pleasantries even to total strangers. This is marvelous behavior in a society where humility is seldom represented. And this applies to all walks of life.
Evidently, Ronnie was an exemplar of a son for the gratitude of any parent. A model, who displayed neither malice nor mischief to anyone. He entertained no gangs and never fell short through the pressures of peer groups. His favourite sport was martial arts, where he had excelled to the level of first degree black belt and was due to be awarded a second degree black belt in December of this year as he exercised this discipline at his father’s school, The Blue Dragon Karate Dojo. He was also in his element watching his favourite cartoons, for Ronnie had an innocence about him that enabled him to find joy and peace in the simple things of life. It sounds too good to be true but those attributes were that of Ronnie’s. Our delinquent will do well to emulate him for a more tranquil St. Lucia.
My dear folks this wonderful subject, that was titled, Sensei: Ronald Douglas Clery, made his entrance in this world on the 26th November, 1992 via the fortunate union of Paul and Genitha Clery. He attended the Corinth Secondary School, a “dashing” student, who cooperated with rules and regulations. Sadly now, Paul and Genitha, his uncle Rosemond and his siblings (Dwight, Miguel, Dwayne, Jamal, Shane and Jeanine) are left in mourning. Also the many families: the Clery’s, Cosmay’s, Cato’s, Flavius’, Butcher’s, Evan’s, Prosper’s and Louison’s, his close friends: C J and Mario will also miss him dearly.
Ronnie, at twenty your season was indeed a brief story taken in its bud long before the narration of maturity. Yet we will seek solace with our memories of you that shone as an exemplar of youth in our community. So rest in peace our dear son, brother, nephew, cousin, friend and associate. Rest in peace in God’s Holy Embrace.
